Graskop is a scenic tourism and forestry town in the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality of Mpumalanga’s Ehlanzeni District. It lies on the edge of the Drakensberg Escarpment at an elevation of roughly 1,400 metres, between Sabie, Pilgrim’s Rest and Hazyview. The name Graskop means “grassy head” or “grassy peak” in Afrikaans and refers to the elevated grass-covered landscape. Although regular rail operations have ended, the old station and railway heritage remain part of the town’s identity.
