Okiep, also historically written as O’Kiep, is a small copper-mining town in the Nama Khoi Local Municipality, within the Namakwa District Municipality of the Northern Cape. It lies beside the N7, approximately 8 km north of Springbok, on the main route between Cape Town and the Namibian border. Okiep is surrounded by rocky granite hills, dry valleys, mine workings and sparse Namaqualand vegetation.
